Four percent of the gambling tax, or close to PLN 40 mln (EUR 9.4 mln), has been given to non-governmental organisations in Poland for the past year and a half, Deputy Prime Minister and Culture Minister Piotr Gliński said on Saturday.

Gliński, who attended the Third Forum of Associations from the Low Beskids in Iwonicz Zdrój, in southeastern Poland, said that the solution, based on Canadian and British models, has been introduced by the government in Poland for the first time and that in many countries such concept has not been applied.

The deputy prime minister also added that thanks to these decisions, funds were created to promote civil society, culture and sport.
