Former Polish education minister posthumously awarded

Recently deceased former Polish Education Minister Krystyna Lybacka was posthumously awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, on Monday, for her outstanding public service.

The distinction, conferred by President Andrzej Duda, was given to Lybacka's family by presidential aide Andrzej Dera during her funeral on Monday.

Lybacka, who joined the Democratic Left Alliance in 1999, was the education minister in the government of Leszek Miller (2001-2004). She was a long-time MP (1991-2014) and a Member of the European Parliament (2014-2019).
