In the 4th quarter of 2019 foreigners working in Poland sent PLN 3.9 billion (EUR 882 million) to their home countries, down by PLN 200 million (EUR 45 million) year on year, the National Bank of Poland (NBP) reported on Tuesday.

NBP said that the drop resulted from decreasing transfers by immigrants working short-term in Poland, which in the fourth quarter of 2019 amounted to PLN 3.3 billion (EUR 746.6 million) against PLN 3.7 billion (EUR 837.1 million) in the fourth quarter of 2018," NBP wrote.

Transfers to Ukraine amounted to PLN 3.4 billion (EUR 769.2 million) and accounted for 86.0 percent of all funds. A year earlier, employees from Ukraine transferred PLN 3.7 billion to their country.
