Fitness club operators are demanding compensation for losses caused by restrictions on their operating activities during the Covid-19 epidemic, a Polish newspaper reported on Friday.

The Rzeczpospolita daily reported that a class-action lawsuit was filed in a Warsaw District Court on Thursday against the government and the health minister, which demanded a judicial decision on the State Treasury's liability for damages incurred during the Covid-19 pandemic resulting from restrictions on the running of gyms and fitness clubs.

Lawyers representing the claimants said that more than 150 entrepreneurs, who run a total of 450 fitness clubs in Poland, are involved in the lawsuit.

The lawyers also claim the restrictions were illegal and prohibited their clients' right to conduct business.
