Festival of Jewish music to start in Wrocław
The leitmotiv of this year’s 12th Summer in the Synagogue Under the White Stork will be the personal stories of Jewish artists. The festival involves music meetings with Jewish artists from all over Europe. The festival starts on Sunday in Wrocław (southwestern Poland).
Concerts will be held in the historic interior of the Synagogue which dates back to 1829.
"We invited them (artists-PAP) to talk about their culture and share their history," the director of Center for Jewish Culture and Education Bente Kahan said at the inaugural conference.
Events include concerts by Jewish artists from the international music scene. The series will end on August 26, when world-famous musicians and young talents will present classical music during the Krzyżowa Music festival.
The festival is organised by the Bente Kahan Foundation which cares for the Jewish heritage of Wrocław and Lower Silesia.
