Jan Kobuszewski, an outstanding Polish theatre and film actor, comedian and director, died at the age of 85 in Warsaw on Saturday, PAP was told by the Kwadrat Theatre.

Born in Warsaw in 1934, Kobuszewski worked in a number of theatres in the Polish capital and played in many film productions. He was famous for his roles in satirical cabarets. He was often described as "the greatest comic actor in Poland."

"Jan Kobuszewski has died. A warm ray has gone out," President Andrzej Duda wrote on Twitter.
