The 12th European Economic Congress, and the European Start-up Days, planned to be held on 18-20 May in Katowice, southern Poland, have been postponed until September 2-3, 2020, due the coronavirus epidemic threat, the congress organisers PTWP Group said on Thursday.

The European Tech and Start-up Days, part of the European Economic Forum, will now start on September 3.

According to CEO of PTWP Group, Wojciech Kuspik, September's congress will focus on the situation facing the world due to the coronavirus epidemic.

"We believe that on September 2-4, the 12th edition of the largest business meeting in this part of Europe will take place in the format which we introduced at the start, with a wide, substantive, international group of participants," Kuspik said.

In 2019, the 11th European Economic Congress (EEC), also held in Katowice, was attended by over 15,500 guests.
