European Commission raises Poland's 2021 GDP growth forecast to 4 pct

The Polish economy will expand by 4 percent in 2021, the European Commission (EC) has said, raising its previous 3.1 percent GDP growth forecast.

In 2022, GDP will grow by 5.4 percent, up from 5.1 percent forecasted earlier, according to the EC, the EU's executive arm.

Poland's unemployment is expected to be the lowest in the EU, at 3.5 percent, unlike inflation, which is expected to reach 3.5 percent this year, up from 2.3 percent seen earlier, the EC also said.

In 2022, inflation will likely ease to 2.9 percent.

Poland's general government deficit will reach 4.3 percent of the country's GDP in 2021 and will decline to 2.3 percent in the following year.
