The EU will probably pass a new packet of sanctions on Russia on Friday, Poland's ambassador to the EU has said.

Andrzej Sados said on Thursday the sanctions would include proposals forwarded by Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.

The sanctions would cover, he added, more dual-use items and more companies that support Russia's war on Ukraine. Also sanctioned, he said, will be around 200 people and organisations involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia and in the theft of Ukrainian grain.

Also planned is a ban on investment in Russian mining and the sale of aviation products to Russia, Sados said.
