Employment rising in shipbuilding sector - ministry

Employment in Poland's shipbuilding industry has risen by nearly 8,000 since 2015, the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Waterways announced on Thursday.

According to the ministry, the employment rise is the effect of the reconstruction of the sector after years of disorganisation.

Citing the Central Statistical Office (GUS), the ministry said employment in the shipbuilding sector in 2018 rose to nearly 37,500, the highest figure in the 21st century discounting 2001, when the segment was still suffering under a slump caused by transformation processes in earlier years.
