The LEM Thunder v2 electric motorcycle, designed and built by students from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST), has taken second place in the 2019 SmartMoto Challenge competition in Barcelona, in the 30kW nominal power category.

This is the third time that students from the WUST have been awarded at the SmartMoto Challenge, having previously triumphed at the event in 2014 and 2017.

Andrzej Charytoniuk from the WUST press office told PAP on Monday that during this year's challenge two-wheeled vehicles adapted for all-terrain purposes competed against each other. The Wrocław team were in competition with challengers from Poland, Spain, Russia and other countries.

All machines taking part in the challenge were tested from a technical point of view, after which the motorcycles took part in various competitions, including enduro track races and fastest acceleration contests.

The LEM Thunder proved to be the best during the endurance race, where vehicles had to complete twenty laps in the shortest possible time.
