EIB poured record funds into support for Polish investments in 2021

The European Investment Bank (EIB) backed investments in Poland, in 2021, with the record sum of EUR 6.5 billion, the EIB's vice-president said on Wednesday.

Teresa Czerwinska pointed out at the "Investments as an accelerator of change" conference: "In the past year alone, the EIB group supported investments in the record amount of EUR 6.5 billion, including nearly EUR 5.7 billion from the EIB and EUR 806 million from the European Investment Fund."

As a result, "in terms of the amount of financing, Poland, for the first time, found itself in fourth place among the 27 EU member states, behind France, Italy and Spain," she added.

According to Czerwinska, EIB focuses on investments in innovation and digitisation, human capital, sustainable energy sources and green transformation, the sustainable development of cities and regions, and support for small and medium sized enterprises.

Czerwinska noted that the EIB financing supported approximately 670,000 jobs which corresponded to 1.2 percent of Polish GDP.
