The EC has approved EUR 130 million in EU funds for the expansion of Poland's LNG terminal in the northwestern seaport Świnoujście. The funding will come from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.

The expansion of the terminal is part of Poland's plan to raise energy security. Planned is the installation of two SCV (Submerged Combustion Vaporiser)-type regasification units and a third LNG tank, also built will be a second berth with a bunkering station, and a rail cistern loading station.

On Thursday the terminal's operator Polskie LNG sealed the purchase of two SCV regasificators with the German manufacturer Selas-Linde.
