Duda's victory will ensure president-government cooperation - spokesman

The victory of incumbent President Andrzej Duda will guarantee, in the next term of office, "constructive cooperation" between the president and the government, government spokesman Piotr Muller told PAP, commenting on the partial results of the presidential election.

Such cooperation is necessary in the context of Poland's global challenges in the next few years, he said.

In Muller's opinion, Duda's victory means "a continuation of stable international policy, which is extremely important in the global economic crisis."

According to results from 99.97 percent of polling stations presented on Monday morning by the State Electoral Commission (PKW), Duda received 51.21 percent of the votes in the run-off of the presidential election on Sunday.

His contender, Rafal Trzaskowski, won 48.79 percent of the votes.
