Polish President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday congratulated Joe Biden on his victory in the U.S. presidential election, after Biden won the state-by-state Electoral College vote that officially determines the U.S. presidency.

"Following the vote of the Electoral College, I would like to congratulate you on successfully concluding the election process to become the 46th President of the United States, and wish you a very successful term," Duda wrote in a letter that was addressed to President-elect Joe Biden and posted on the Polish president's website.

Biden’s win in the Electoral College confirms his victory over Donald Trump, who had during his presidency placed a strong emphasis on ties between Poland and the US.

Duda said that "Polish-American relations have become a pillar of ever-growing importance for the Transatlantic and European security and stability," adding that the Polish-US relationship "is the shining beacon of what a true Strategic Partnership is, and what can be achieved while working together.”

Duda also praised US support for the Three Seas Initiative, and its help with the diversification of Poland’s energy security through its export of LNG to Polish ports.

The president concluded by writing that he was looking forward "to all the meetings and discussions we will have in future, both in the bilateral format, as well as wider international forum. In that regard, allow me to extend a warm invitation for you to visit Poland."
