December tourism figures down - stats office

The total number of tourists in Poland dropped by 80.4 percent year on year in December, while the number of foreign tourists fell by 91.1 percent, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Thursday.

GUS estimates put the number of visitors making overnight stays in tourist accommodation at 450,100 in December, of whom 403,900 were Polish tourists and 46,200 were foreigners.

The total number of overnight stays in December amounted to 1.0 million, down 81.6 percent from a year earlier (5.5 million), with Polish tourists accounting for 0.9 mln overnight stays and foreigners for 0.1 million, numbers which were down 79.6 percent and 88.3 percent, respectively, compared to December 2019.
