Concert of solidarity with Belarus at National Stadium on Sept. 26
A concert of solidarity with Belarus will be staged at the National Stadium in Warsaw on September 26, with the participation of Polish and Belarusian artists.
The event, initiated by the Solidarity with Belarus Association, will be broadcast by Polsat private broadcaster and Belsat TV.
The organisers offer free admission to the concert after registering at www.koncertbialorus.pgenarodowy.pl.
The CEO of Pl.2012+, a company operating the National Stadium and the organiser of the concert, told reporters on Tuesday "it is a symbol supporting the Belarusian people in their striving for a free and democratic country."
"Forty years recently passed since the tragic events on the Polish Baltic Coast, which led to the birth of Solidarity, a ten-million social movement," Wlodzimierz Dola said, adding that all kinds of support for Belarusians were a sign of solidarity and responsibility. "And I want this concert to be such a manifestation of support," he stated.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has assumed honorary patronage over the concert.
Government spokesman Piotr Muller said on Tuesday that "keeping in mind Solidarity, Poland is morally obliged to offer support to other nations aiming for democracy and freedom, including the Belarusian people."
