Coaches ready to transport Ukrainian refugees

Polish firefighters have prepared coaches to transport Ukrainian refugees to reception points at temporary housing sites, if needed, a spokesperson for the State Fire Service told PAP on Thursday.
Polish authorities estimate that close to a million people could flee Ukraine owing to the fighting.
Karol Kierzkowski said: "We have prepared coaches in the Podkarpackie province which, if necessary, will transport refugees from Ukraine."
He added that, for the time being, "the situation on the border crossings is calm, refugees have not yet arrived there and traffic is fairly routine."
The State Fire Service has prepared logistics management plans and has gathered the necessary equipment, including tents and trucks, he said.
"If representatives of local, self-government or provincial authorities ask the service for help, they will receive it," Kierzkowski said.
He added: "If necessary, we will support the army and the police, as we did on the border with Belarus, for example, by providing drinking water, water for sanitary facilities, and tents for staff purposes."
