Children in Poland should resume regular classes from September 1, a deputy health minister said on Monday.

Waldemar Kraska told Polish Radio that schools were expected to resume normal classes this September, but said the government had alternative plans in case of problems caused by Covid.

"By all indications there should be no obstacles here, though we do have alternative scenarios in case the epidemic situation changes," he said. "But I think we can be pretty certain here: schoolchildren should be returning to class on September 1."

Kraska added that Covid-19 vaccination programmes will be launched in schools throughout the country, and encouraged schoolchildren to inoculate themselves against the disease.
