Cannabis firm hits a new high after raising 4 million PLN in 30 minutes

An Elbląg company manufacturing CBD and hemp fibres for the textile industry have hit a new high after raising 4.2 million PLN in just 38 minutes in an online fundraising drive.

Founded in 2019, Kombinat Konopny attracted over 700 investors on the Crowdway.pl site, offering investment packages for as low as 420 PLN.

Investors were offered a number of different perks, including a visit to the company’s farm for cannabis harvesting, dinner with the company’s CEO or the possibility to become a sales partner.

The company was founded by Polish hemp pioneer Maciej Kowalski, who sold his previous company HemPoland – which was then valued at 100 million PLN – to Canadian firm The Green Organic Dutchman.

Kowalski has had a long history with the green stuff, also acting as press officer for cannabis legalisation movement Wolne Konopie for a number of years.

Kombinat Konopny currently leases 40 hectares of land near the northern city of Elbląg, and hopes to scale production with the funds with a view to launching on the Polish stock market in the near future.

The company says it is also “developing a scalable technological process that would enable the widespread use of hemp in clothing.”
