Canadian troops to aid Ukrainian war refugees in Poland

A 100-soldier unit of the Canadian armed forces will relocate to Poland to aid Ukrainian war refugees, the Canadian defence minister said on Thursday.
Anita Anand said the soldiers will arrive in Poland in the coming days. She explained that their main task will be to aid Ukrainians in refugee centres around Poland and coordinate humanitarian aid. She added that they will also provide limited medical aid and help to Ukrainians wishing to emigrate to Canada.
Anand stated that Canada has earmarked CAD 500 million (EUR 367.22 million) for military aid to Ukraine, mainly for the purchase of new weaponry, and said more details about the military programme will be revealed "soon."
