Business services may double headcount over decade, lobby says

The number of employees in the services for business sector in Poland, which now stands at 355,000, may double within the next ten years, according to information released at a business lobby congress.

The congress of the Association of Business Services Leaders (ABSL) started in the coastal tri-city of Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot on Tuesday.

The ABSL represents 220 business services firms in Poland, most of which are among the 500 biggest corporations in the world.

"We have 355,000 people working in the sector," said Wojciech Poplawski, ABSL vice-president and managing director at consultancy firm Accenture Operation.

According to Poplawski, Poland has 1,600 operation centres, including 1,080 representing foreign entities.

"It's worth mentioning that 500 of them are Polish entities which are functioning within this model and are already a stable element of our sector," he said.

The two-day ABSL Summit is one of the biggest business events in Central Europe. The main theme of this year's conference is a sustainable future.
