Bomb scare prompts Polish security team to search Chicago-Warsaw plane

A Polish plane which arrived at Warsaw Chopin Airport from Chicago early on Tuesday afternoon was swept by bomb disposal units after a report that an explosive could be planted on board.

"The airport received information about a possible threat related to this flight and airport and state services were notified immediately," said a Chopin Airport spokeswoman, Anna Dermont.

"The passengers have been relocated to a designated place," she also said, but declined to give any further details of the incident.

The onet.pl website reported earlier that "Polish (security – PAP) services received information that an explosive could be present onboard the plane."

"After landing, 250 passengers and 11 crew were evacuated," Onet was told by Dagmara Bielec-Janas of the local border guard unit.

Later in the afternoon, Bielec-Janas said that "the screening for explosives has been finished, the plane is safe and no dangerous material or object have been found."
