Blik mobile payment operator PSP teams up with MasterCard
Polish Payment Standard (PSP), the operator of the Blik mobile payment system, has formed a partnership with MasterCard, following an announcement first made in December 2018, the companies announced in a Tuesday press release.
"The strategic cooperation between Polish Payment Standard and MasterCard is a breakthrough moment in the further development of the Blik mobile payment system," the press release read. "Its result will be enabling users Blik proximity payment through a Smartphone both in Poland and abroad."
Thanks to the partnership, Blik mobile payments will be possible worldwide in all Point of Sale (POS) terminals that accept payment by MasterCard.
The companies said selected details of the agreement would be made available following fulfilment of all formal conditions. According to PAP Biznes, consent will be required from anti-trust office UOKiK and the National Bank of Poland.
Blik is a Polish mobile payment system, launched in February 2015 and built on the basis of a partnership of the six biggest banks in Poland. Today the system is operated by PSP.
