Biden to visit Poland on Ukraine war anniversary - US media

US President Joe Biden intends to visit Poland on the anniversary of Russia's February 24, 2022, invasion of Ukraine, US TV channel NBC News has reported.
Biden's visit to Poland is currently planned for late February, though sources said the trip had not yet been confirmed as the White House has not formally announced it and the plans may change.
NBC reported in January that Biden was considering a visit to Europe, including to Poland, with sources saying at the time that the White House was considering how the president could mark the war's anniversary to highlight Ukraine's resilience and underscore the USA's ongoing solidarity with the Ukrainian nation.
A trip to Europe would give Biden an opportunity to emphasise the importance of unity in the US-Europe alliance, something signified by his announcement in January of 31 Abrams tanks for Ukraine.
The US president said at the time that Russia expected Western unity to fracture but that it stood firm.
Since Russia's invasion, the USA has given to Ukraine military support worth USD 29 billion, the department of defence said last week.
