Belarusian oppositionists to take part in Poland's Economic Forum 2020
Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will be among the Belarusian guests of the Economic Forum 2020, which commences this week in the southern Polish town of Karpacz, the event's organisers told PAP on Saturday.
The organisers said that since the contested presidential elections in Belarus on August 9, events in that country has drawn the attention of the whole world, hence this year's Economic Forum, which has raised the most important political, social and economic issues of the Central and Eastern European region for 30 years, will devote some of the discussions to the current situation and future of Belarus.
The agenda of this year's Economic Forum, which was previously held in the southern spa resort of Krynica, will provide an opportunity to meet leading figures of Belarusian democratic and business circles. The Belarusian opposition leader was invited by the organisers for her first foreign trip in the role of opposition leader.
Among several dozen Belarusian guests at the Economic Forum will also be Pavel Latushko and Alexander Dabravolski - members of the Coordination Council for the Transfer of Power in Belarus - Ales Zarembiuk of the 'Belarusian House' in Warsaw, and Dmitry Novikov of European Radio for Belarus.
Among almost 200 panel discussions and seminars at this year's Economic Forum, the Belarusian guests will take part in a series of debates dedicated to their country entitled 'Belarus - what next?,' 'Between Europe and Russia. The future of Belarus,' and 'Europe after the pandemic, Solidarity, Freedom, Community?'
The Economic Forum 2020 will be held on September 8-10.
