Belarusian opposition leader praises support of all Polish parties
Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has expressed her satisfaction that all political parties in Poland have a similar opinion about what is happening in Belarus. She made the statement after a meeting with Civic Platform (PO) leader Borys Budka.
Tikhanovskaya met with Budka, the leader of Poland's main opposition party, at Warsaw's Chopin Airport on Thursday evening.
Addressing a joint press conference with Budka, Tikhanovskaya expressed her gratitude for the warm reception in Poland. "Poland has been doing everything possible to support our citizens. I am convinced that we can always count on Poland for its support in the future," she stated.
She also thanked the Civic Platform for its support.
"We are friends of the Belarusian people," Budka said, declaring his party's support for democratic changes in Belarus.
Speaking on behalf of the Civic Platform and the Civic Coalition, Budka assured Tikhanovskaya of their support for the Belarusians in their struggle to win full freedom and democracy. "PO representatives at the European Parliament will do their best to make Belarusian affairs a priority in the activities of the European Union," he said.
