Around 400 events worldwide to mark independence centenary
Out of PLN 240 million (EUR 56 mln) earmarked for celebrating the centenary of Poland regaining independence around PLN 64 million (EUR 15 mln) will be spent on the "foreign component," Deputy Prime Minister and Culture Minister Piotr Gliński said on Wednesday.
As part of the celebrations about 400 events have been planned all around the world, including a Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra tour around Asia and exhibitions of Polish design in many European capitals, Gliński noted.
He also pointed out a project in which one hundred works of the greatest Polish composers were released on 37 CDs.
"There will be 22 concerts of Polish music on 22 stages around the world, from Melbourne to New York," the Polish culture minister added, stressing it was only a "small part" of foreign events celebrating the 100th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland.
