Amazon will add an additional 500 new jobs in its new e-commerce centre in Łódź, central Poland. Earlier, Amazon announced 100 new jobs in the centre in the Łódź suburb of Pawlikowice, where it already employs 700 workers.

"Amazon has decided to continue its investments in the Lodz region, plans to expand its logistics centre and offer 500 new jobs. This investment is of special significance, since it is being carried out in a very difficult period, during the cornavirus epidemic, when many companies reduce their employment, cut wages and halt new projects," Łódź Mayor Hanna Zdanowska stated on Monday.

Sought for the new Amazon facility are engineers, HR, IT and financial specialists, and operations managers.

The new 40,000-square-metre centre, to open in August, will be expanded by another 33,000 square metres.

Amazon settled in Poland in 2014 and currently employs over 16,000 in eight e-commerce centres countrywide, a technology development centre in Gdańsk, northern Poland, and a web services branch in Warsaw.
