Air bridge with China to be launched for medical transports – PM's aide
Beginning next week, an air bridge with China will be initiated to carry personal protective equipment for medical services involved in the fight against coronavirus, said head of the Polish Prime Minister's Office Michal Dworczyk on Thursday.
The first transport of medical equipment from China arrived in Warsaw on Thursday. Dworczyk said that it included over 600 m3 of supplies essential in the fight against the coronavirus.
In this context, he thanked officials of state-owned companies and government agencies which were implementing and purchasing, in part, some of the necessary materials.
Dworczyk also thanked President Andrzej Duda, who recently discussed the matter with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Dworczyk said that the Polish national airline LOT's 'Flight Home' operation to bring foreign-stranded Poles home was nearing its conclusion. He stated that so far over 34,000 Poles had been able to return to Poland from other countries under the initiative, and said that further flights will focus on non-European countries.
